Liquid Immersion Cooling for HPC

High Performance Computer Cooling (HPC)

HPC utilises supercomputers and computer clusters to solve complex computation problems. For years, HPC has been fundamental in research, leading to discoveries that otherwise would not be possible. Now, nearly every single industry uses HPC, from the manufacturing and oil & gas industries to healthcare, robotics and aerospace.

The growing demand for HPC is a result of smart technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and the Internet of Things (IoT), which are becoming more and more central to our daily lives. The huge amount of data created by such technologies needs to be analysed much faster to give meaningful insights. Therefore, enhanced server processing power is critical, leading to thermal management challenges and hardware reliability.

HPC Challenges

  • Power density

  • Performance

  • Reliability

Liquid immersion cooling can overcome these barriers since servers are fully immersed in a dielectric fluid and all areas of the hardware are cooled uniformly and more efficiently. This mitigates thermal management issues and enhances server performance, while protecting equipment from dust and other contaminants which interferes with server reliability.

Benefits of Liquid Immersion Cooling with MIVOLT:

  • Enables greater power density

  • Enhances performance

  • Minimises outage risks

  • Maximises PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness)

  • Minimises environmental impact
